Horizon Vascular Specialists

The + was successfully delivering a complex renovation in an actively occupied building, navigating extensive compliance requirements and design changes while meeting an accelerated schedule.

KasCon converted existing office space into a new ambulatory surgery center (ASC) for Horizon Vascular Specialists in Germantown, MD. The NFPA 99 code-compliant project included  medical gas and emergency generator back up.  The ASC featured two (2) large operating rooms with full sterile processing and patient post-op.  The emergency generator back up required for all critical/patient care areas and connection to existing water loop systems for HVAC were highly complex aspects of the project.  The ADA- compliant exterior component of the project included a series of winding ramps with guard rails and retaining walls (with elaborate interconnected snow melt systems and controls) as well as integration into existing parking and sidewalk areas, and exterior lighting/controls.  Other project features included automatic door controls throughout critical care and space entry/egress areas as well as professional finishes and stone countertops throughout the space. The project included offices, group administration areas, waiting/reception, mechanical/electrical rooms, post-op, sterile, processing, and operating rooms.  The project was executed in an occupied building which required high levels of coordination and connection to neighboring tenant line routes and common building equipment.
